As a parent or caregiver, seeing your child struggle with mental health challenges, behavioral issues, loss or trauma can be confusing and overwhelming. Mental health challenges are widespread among our children and can seriously affect their quality of life. However, with therapeutic intervention, children can learn to communicate feelings, cope with challenges, and develop problem-solving skills that will help them to thrive in all areas of their lives. My name is Annike Sprow, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in working with children with emotional and behavioral challenges, and trauma histories. I like to think about therapy as one piece to the overall wellness puzzle. Therefore, I take a holistic approach to therapy, making sure to create opportunities for caregiver and teacher collaboration. I use CBT strategies, which are used for “here and now” problem solving and behavior modification. I assess and target environmental stressors that can affect emotional wellness. During sessions, I teach and model emotional regulation skills that assist in increasing an internal sense of calm and control. I am passionate about healing and look forward to opportunities where I can be a support in children and family’s lives.
